People are Corn Cobs

We will talk about people in this post. People who you choose to work with you. You end up choosing them because they compliment you in some way or the other. And it is not important for you to like their every trait. Understand what helps and what not. Choose what helps you and overlook the rest. Every human is an ear of corn.

We plant seeds. We take care of the crop as it grows. Then it is time for the harvest. Soon, we separate the harvest into edible grains and the non-edible husk. Grains are eaten while husk is used for other purposes.

Once we know what we want, it is easy to recognize what we need and what we don’t. We grab an ear of corn, discard the outer layers and feast on the innermost bed of corn-seeds. Similarly, our team members have certain qualities that we do need to run an organization effectively. Their shortcomings might come in the way of your complete approval of the person, but that should not come in the way of work.

It is essential to clarify the personal equations when we agree to work together. It is not necessary for both of you to be close friends. But mutual respect and a sense of responsibility is a must. Of things that piss you off, well, let those be the husk that you need to overlook.

People are wonderful. Its just a matter of what you need and what you don’t. ¬†Consume the corn seeds all you want. Play with the husk or simply ignore it. Husk has its own uses, for all you know.
